"Multilingual Guides + On-site Teaching + Fun Interactions" Make Waste Sorting Accessible to All

Recently, the open space downstairs of Building 1A in the Talent Apartment of Wenhua Community, Shounan Sub-district, Yinzhou District, was filled with warmth as a successful launch event for full-category intelligent domestic waste recycling bins was held. Through innovative forms such as on-site practical demonstrations, distribution of multilingual guides, fun Q&A interactions, and the "Hazardous Waste for Love" exchange program, the community helped waste sorting knowledge take root in people's minds, pushing the community's waste sorting work into a new stage of intelligence and internationalization, and injecting new vitality into the construction of a green and civilized community.

Hands-on Teaching: Intelligent Sorting with "Zero Threshold"

At the event site, community waste sorting supervisors adopted a "hands-on" teaching method to demonstrate the entire operation process of the intelligent recycling bins in detail to Chinese and foreign residents: from quick registration and login via mobile phone, to classified disposal of recyclables, kitchen waste and other categories with the "one household, one card" system, and to real-time points inquiry and redemption rules after disposal. Every step was explained thoroughly and demonstrated in place, ensuring that every participating resident could intuitively master the use of intelligent equipment and easily become a "waste sorting expert."

"I used to be worried about sorting waste incorrectly. Now after watching the supervisors' demonstration, even details like whether to tie up the garbage bags or leave them open are clearly explained," smiled Pan Jingjing, a resident of the Talent Apartment, after experiencing the disposal process on site. "My child also said this is very interesting and wants to come with me to take out the garbage next time."

Multilingual Support: Barrier-free International Dissemination

As a community located in the Southern Higher Education Park, Wenhua Community boasts abundant high-quality talent resources, with 1,005 foreign friends from more than 70 countries residing in the area. To break the language barrier for foreign residents in waste sorting, as early as July this year, the community joined hands with the "YU Meet Wenhua" Volunteer Service Team from Ningbo City College of Vocational Technology to carefully translate and compile the trilingual (Chinese-English-Japanese) version of the Guidelines for Using Intelligent Waste Sorting and Recycling Bins over a week. In a graphic and text format, the guide clearly marks classification standards, disposal taboos and points rules, allowing foreign residents to easily understand and operate correctly.

More than 100 multilingual guides were distributed on site, and community grid workers also conducted door-to-door publicity, delivering a total of over 200 copies. "By linking the professional strength of young students from surrounding universities and providing barrier-free learning tools for foreign residents, we have effectively promoted the international dissemination of waste sorting knowledge," said Yuan Haiwei, Secretary of the Party Branch of Wenhua Community's Party-Mass Service Center. He added that the community will deepen the university-community cooperation mechanism in the future, regularly update multilingual promotional materials, and continuously promote the construction of an international green community.

Fun Interactions: Civilized Concepts "Take Root Deeply"

To make waste sorting publicity more attractive, a bilingual signage system was set up at the event site—Chinese-English operation process posters were erected next to the intelligent recycling bins, and trilingual promotional brochures and points cards were placed in the rest area. The game interaction zone launched special activities such as "waste sorting sandbag throwing," "fun Q&A on intelligent bin knowledge," and "hazardous waste exchange for daily necessities." These edutainment activities mobilized residents' enthusiasm for participation, attracting more than 100 Chinese and foreign residents to participate in depth.
